WFCA Archers in National Team Event

June 2016

Members of Wyre Forest Company of Archers were once again asked to represent the county of Worcestershire at The National Team Event held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre over the weekend of the 25th and 26th of June.

Scott Potter made up one third of the Gent’s Compound team whilst Melissa Smallman and Daniel Finn were part of the Ladies and Gents recurve ‘B’ teams. Despite the mixture of tricky winds, hot sun and heavy downpours, all shot well and enjoyed the experience of both the Head to Head and individual rounds.

The compound gents team made it through to the 1/8 round by beating Berkshire 207 to 192 but were then knocked out by the team from Gloucestershire. Both recurve teams were knocked out in the first round but put up a good fight and did themselves and their county proud. WFCA Associate member Anne Rutland shot in the compound ladies team. They were beaten in the first round by Yorkshire, 211 to 200.

Huge congratulations must be said to the Worcestershire ‘A’ team comprising of Sally Gilder, Hazel Blissett and Linda Haines who gained the second place medal. Congratulations also go to Melissa for claiming her 1100 Fita Star badge.
